My Sister Keeper

Hahaha.. book review again.. i dunno why i like to do book reviews when my book review is so damn lousy.. but i just love it.. i like to write down what have touch my heart when reading a book...

It has been a long long time since i last picked up an english novel to read... this few years i have been reading chinese books, cos english books (correction.. library english books) just don't appeal to me... i think the last english book i have read is Torrey Hadden's "The Zoo Boy"? or something like tat.. a book i borrowed from Jo to read... I very heavy hearted book which i don't really enjoy.. the english book before tat? Shld be Harry Potter and the Order of Phoneix... being a potter fan, of course i quite enjoy the book though its a disappointment as compare to the previous potter(s)... anyway so after so long i finally picked up this book from borders because the cover appeal to me.. ha.. yes the first thing tat capture me was the "baby girl" on the cover.. then the synopsis.. i was glad i bought the book cos i really really enjoyed it... finally i have found another author whom i really like after ditching Dean Koonz and John Saul some 8 years back...

My Sister Keeper talks about how a child is being born to save the life of her sister... her sister suffered from lukemia, but her elder brother is not a match donor... as a result, their parents decide to conceive a designer baby to help save the life of this sister. At first the parents tot the cord blood would be enuff.. however, it din't help.. as a result their youngest child have to go through thousands and thousands of medical treatments to help her sister... to keep her sister alive... but one day she decide to sue her parents and to claim the rights of her "body" back.. so she can refuse to donate any part of her body to her sister... so this whole book evolves around the case, highlighting the family members feeling throughout the case and also throughout the period where the 2nd child was sick...

The story have an unexpected ending.. sad but true... i teared when i read the book.. there is scenarios in the book which i sympathise with Anna (the 3rd child)... particularly in the chapter where the father start to realise that they have been focusing too much in her sister or spending too much time at work to escape reality that he unintenationally left out Anna. Din't hear what she has to say... it reminds me of myself... there are times where i felt left out... i guess all of us do in some part of our life.. and the feeling is just sooooo bad..... but this is part of life we just have to get used to it.. i also try to avoid things like this happening ard me.. but sometime situation do not allow me to do tat, i'm just helpless as wat i can do... sometime i just din't realise i'm leaving someone out... but when i start to realise, i try to make up.. but obviously i noe it can't be make up in anyway... sighz.. tats life.. wat is done cannot be undone.. wats over cannot be return back...

anyway... i highly recommend this book.. they way the author writes the book let you see things in different perspective... let u have a new light to a situation.. and her writings always prompt u to read on and can't bear to put down the book...

and guess wat... i just went to Taka Kino to buy 2 more of her books back (actually wanted to buy more.. but the remaining 2 books by her only left with 1 copy and is not in very good condition.. so i decide to wait and see.. if i can't get from kino i still have borders.. at most pay a higher price...).. i have started reading the first book on the way back home.. i noe i have a lot of books i haven't read... those books i bought back from TW i haven't even finish 1/2.. but i just love her books.. so i can't help... and i noe i'm super broke.. but like they say.. books are an investment... so i'm investing.. its not $ wasted... okie.. book wrapping time... =P

*p.s... shir.. u shld go to taka kino.. they have a whole shelve of Net novels... but obviously they are more ex then taiwan.. but better then nothing lah... plus i have 10% discount.. hehehee... oh yeah i hereby annouce i have the kino card.. so if anybody want to buy books and kino can look for me.. i give you 5% i earn the remaining 5%.. hahaa.. just joking.. but if you buying books / magazine at kino let me know.. i will be willing to lend u my card... just to make my $21 worth... =)
