Was watching "Cross Talk (針鋒相對)" yesterday. The topic for the day is about Rain concert ticket selling at a price of SGD888. I only manage to catch the last 10 minutes of the show.. but the male guest speaker is enough to irritate me...
There is 2 main points he made... He says that just by "隨隨便便" singing and dancing on the stage Rain gets to earn that kind of money (btw i'm not a fan of Rain)... and how could they compare themselves with those 男高音... and went on to condemn the pop culture.. saying they don't last... and he insists that the pop pple don't put in as much hardwork as the rest... reason being, those in the classical side have to start training from young.. and he don't believe the pple from the pop will do such a thing... So in the 10 minutes he just condemn the pop culture and give the impression that its uncouth... and those that listen to classical are "better"
true as it seems, he irritates me and displays a character which i don't wish to comment... but he does remind me of myself in some sense...
like him... i sort-of condemn boy-band... actually i don't really condemn boy-band... just that i don't like pple to classify MD as a boyband... but does it make me more superior just because i'm supporting MD and not XXXX?? does it makes me more refine just because i appreciate rock band rather then some commercialise boy band?? No doubt... at a point in time i think that those pple that support boyband has no taste.. and i'm able to appreciate music more just because i support rock band?? all these are bullshit... whether its commercialise or not so long as a music you like personally why bother whether its commercialise or classical or watsoever? trying to act knowledgable or more superior just shows my stupidity....
but i do not agree that "pop" pple do not put in effort... yes they might not be trained from young.. but the effort they put in should also not be undermined... be it MD or XXXX... they all put in effort and hardwork to their job... so we should not overlook such a matter just because of other things... and yes.. in the past i always say XXXX can't sing and yucks to them.. but now i don't deny the hardwork they put in.. look at the shows they host... whether or not they are out to cheat the money of others all i can say is 一個願打一個願挨 what else can we say?
no.. i'm not about to change myself to a XXXX fan... just maybe i should be more receptive to everybody music.. just like when Chrisy put up the moon lyrics in her blog... listen to the music first before you know who is the singer.. then u will be able to put down your prejudice.. then you will be able to appreciate true music....

Resignation
Just heard that an ex-colleague is going to resign from my ex-company... and this colleague happen to be a very important person in that company....
this colleague has been sitting beside me for a few years... i see the way he work, and his attitude in work i know the fustration he is facing... and I know sooner or later he will be throwing the big bomb to my boss... and maybe that is one of the reason why i left my previous company.. cos i gotta do it before he does... otherwise i cannot imagine the mess that needs to be handled afterwards... i was selfish....
actually i tried to do whatever i can before i decide to leave... i was working with him on my last project at the company.. i tried to understudy him... but things are not that easy... there are things which he will insist in doing his way... which I try not to defy him because that is afterall his baby... I tried to lighten his workload.. but i can't... he tend to carry too many things on his back.. or maybe he just don't have the time to teach us... so i decide to call it quit... and during my resignation, i even warn my boss to look after him more... I actually told my boss, for me to quit its okie... i have somebody to take over my job... i'm not that indispensable... but for the others I can't say.... I hope with my leaving, they can use my salary to employ someone else and give the rest a pay raise.... I don't know if my boss got my hint....
watever it is, i guess they are having a rough time at the ex-company now... for me to suggest anything to ask him to stay would be selfish of me.. but all I can say is to be a bit more responsible... especially for a man... at least ensure that you have someone to take over your job before you leave... which was why i chose that period to leave, although i didn't have another job waiting for me... cos its a lull period for SM and i'm not really into POS yet... so that period is where the damage is the least....
when all is said... its really up to him to decide if he really wants to leave or not... watever it is... i just hope all is well for everyone...

Maids
Been wanting to post this a few days back.. but keep forgetting... i was reading the "Today" newspaper on monday and I got a shock of what I read... The article is about how the young kids nowadays depends too much on their maids.
There was one example (true case) where a kid went to toilet and didn't flush it after using. When the teacher ask him why he didn't flush the toilet, the kid says "Oh its the job of my maid" *WTH?!*... another similar incident was a kid was doing some duty work and then he didn't switch off the tap after using.. when the teacher ask him why is it so... again the answer was "Its the job of my maid"... and from the article I came to understand that kids nowadays do not need to do class duty... remember when you are in primary and secondary school there is a duty roster where about once a week you either have to sweep the floor, wipe the blackboard or empty the dustbin? Well, kids nowadays don't need to do that.. cos the parents feel that I'm paying "so much" school fees, can't the school get a maid to do the job? *WTF?!*
I don't blame the kids.. cos they are innocent.. but the parents.. what sort of thinking are they instilling into their kids?? So next time when they are old, is it also the job of the maid to take care of them instead of their kids? how would they feel? I understand most of them came from a hardeous background.. cos singapore wasn't tat rich when they were kids... so they didn't want their kids to suffer the same kind of thing now... but is that correct??? turning off the tap or flushing the toilet is just minor toilet manners... and training your kids to do some duty is just for discipline purpose and to understand how hard the work is for the maid... so they can appreciate what they are having now... and not take things for granted.
besides, maids are also human.. they are just maids.. not slaves... why should they do all the job? even flushing toilet such a minor thing you need a maid to do it??? these parents deserve a tight slap on their face to wake up their idea....

New Work Place
Yesterday night HE asked me how I felt about my new work place after 2 months of working there. Seriously I have been thinking about this for the past 1 month. Do I regret resigning from my ex-company?
Well, certainly no. Is not that I do not love working with my ex-colleagues or I do not love that company. In fact, I think I have love the company too much that I gave 4 good years of my life to it. Spending more then 2/3 of my time working and worrying for it. Now I still love the company, and wish for it to continue to survive in this hardeous society, however not at the expense of my beloved ex-colleagues. If so why do I still left and not regret.
Cos at my new work place, although I pretty much zuo boh now, but still I get to learn new things. See new pple, work in a real corporate environment. Of course I miss the times where I can wake up rather late and reach office by 9:30am and I will still be one of the first few to reach... Of course I also miss being able to have a 2 hour lunch or running off to have my eyebrow trim with Ah Jo during lunch time... :P But working here gives me more discipline... I arrive work at almost on time and leave work on time... which is a healthier lifestyle for me... at least now my day is longer... got more time after work.. instead of just going home to watch tv and sleep... Personally, this greatly improves my quality of life.... but again, this might be because the project is in a lull... maybe later i will be very very busy... but i don't mind yet... cos if this lull period continue for too long it just make a person lazy.... most importantly i don't have to worry about work after office hours.... don't have to panic when the fone rings and don't really dread going to work...
as for the environment.. i'm not a picky person in that area... and colleagues here are funny... and most of them are quite young so its no problem getting along with them...
but things might change when i go back AMK... just have to look see look see... at the present moment, working here is just fine for me... :)
*P.S. If you don't get what I'm trying to write here.. its okie... i'm just trying to write some rubbish to push down an article which SOMEONE complain make him cry... :P

*PS: Its not me... not to worry my friends... just someone...
=========================================

Blog
Just read in a friend's blog talking about blog being "jinx"... or rather the feng feng yu yu that came about because of blogging... because of the use of words.. the misinterpretation etc etc...
seriously some months back I did consider stopping my own blog... because i sort of lost the meaning of writing blogs anymore... blog has become a place to ke kong han hua to others... i just write down whatever that i wanted to say but dare not say to the person in real life... and I still have to write things to a vague point whereby hoping unknown pple will not understand.. but at the sametime because of the vague-ness causing misunderstanding etc etc etc.....
but after somebody reminded me of what i wrote in one of my first few blog pieces that i start to find back the reason for all these bloggings... i remember in one of my first few posts I wrote "因為這裡是我的世界... 我要做回我自己...." Yes that was what started my blog... i started it just to pen down my tots... without caring about what other pple think and do... so why is it that I have to care so much now? because there are more audience? because there is a change in me?
whatever it is, i just constantly remind myself of this sentence... a blog is a place for me to pen my tots and feelings.. not a place to flaunt.... not a place to ge kong han hua..... and if pple choose to misunderstand, i'm paiseh there is pretty much nothing i can do... if can.. i will try NOT to explain myself... i believe time will tell if I'm such a person... and if the relationship is meant to last then God will make things move the right way... there is no point in trying to proof or hold on to something which you don't have the power to control.... so long as I'm not all out to hurt others and abide to my own ethics and moral values i guess i shld just learn to live with the fact that pple are different...

Love your job but never fall in love with your company
"Love your job, but never fall in love with your company because you never know when the company stops loving you" -- Narayana Murthy
Read this line from Bukoh Mary blog. And I found it quite meaningful. In my ex-company, I have been slogging. Most time is not because I'm inefficient but rather we are seriously under-staff. As a result, it affected my private life. So I seriously agreed to what the article says. And I particularly like this:
Being in the office long hours, over long periods of time, makes way for potential errors....
As Managers, there are things we can do to help people leave the office. First and foremost is to set the example and go home ourselves. Second is to encourage people to put some balance in their lives. For instance, here is a guideline I find helpful:
1) Wake up, eat a good breakfast, and go to work.
2) Work hard and smart for eight or nine hours.
3) Go home.
4) Read the books/comics, watch a funny movie, dig in the dirt, play with your kids, etc.
5) Eat well and sleep well.
This is called recreating. Doing steps 1, 3, 4, and 5 enable step 2.
Working regular hours and recreating daily are simple concepts.
They are hard for some of us because that requires 'personal change'.
They are possible since we all have the power to choose to do them.
For those who are still slogging away... its time you get your life back... :)

Some Updates
Finally got to update my other blog. Recently read a book with some nice phrases in it. So spend some time updating my other blog. Here is a little of what I have wrote:
缺氧
...

Guilty... Guilty
I'm feeling very guilty now... cos the project i'm handling is in a mess.... who to blame? myself i think should be responsible for most of the mess...
anyway boss face is very black today because of this project.. cos there are quite a fair bit of loose ends which i didn't tie up properly.... yupz this is the project which i mention i wash hands on in my previous post... so now they are trying to go live next week and boss today then realise there are quite a fair bit of nitty gritty things not done... and i think he is quite piss with me for that... :P
well... all i can say is we are serverly under-staff... but still I'm to take full responsibility for the mess... cos i was quite switch off since I came back from TPE.. i didn't follow up on the things and i was busy clearing up other projects... and i cause more problems to my colleagues... I'm sorry guys... i'm truely am... in fact I'm very angry at myself for being so unprofessional... i shouldn't find any excuses for myself... i'm in the wrong and i admit... but i have no time to help you all salvage the situation... i'm truely sorry....

Admit It!
A lesson I learn from HIM yesterday...
If you are wrong, admit it.
Don't try to jiao bian.
If only I can remember...
If only everybody admits it...
The world will be a nicer place....
If you are wrong, admit it.
Don't try to jiao bian.
If only I can remember...
If only everybody admits it...
The world will be a nicer place....

===========================

Complains... are you guilty of it?
This is a topic which i wanted to post last week but couldn't find the time... so now I'm blogging about it.. but still i'm trying to recall what exactly did i want to write about.... so this post may be a bit here and there...
Read about a piece of blog from a friend's blog who is complaining about colleague... And that was what struck me to write about this post... Complaining is something which i think we are all guilty of it... not to say about others, I myself am guilty of complains... if you read the pieces in my blogs, most of them are about complains... complains about my boss, my bro, my family, my colleagues, singaporeans, strangers and including myself....
sometimes i really wonder when we complain are we guilty of what we are complaining? Do we cause the "injustice" to happen?? For example this friend is complaining about his colleague not helping him... but then did he gave the colleague a chance to do it?? and when the colleague gave suggestion did he just shoot it down without any words of encouragement?? I'm not saying that the fault is all on my friend but sometimes when something happens, both parties are to be blamed....
My boss is another person who does things in such a way... he will ask us to give suggestion... then we will not hear any news about it... until the thing is done and we realise our suggestion is not adopted... well it could be because of resource constraint etc that our suggestions is not adopted, but i think he should have told us about it and let us understand the situation... we can't read his mind... so over time, we get use to it and stop giving anymore suggestions... so who is to be blamed? nobody exactly... if there is fault its the fault of both..
so having say that why do i still complain... for me complaining is just a form of relieving my fustration, etc... sometimes when i say i'm piss with my boss I'm just piss... not really or exactly angry... and not really "piss" kind of piss... just fustrated with how things are getting... and not exactly with him as a person or boss but rather the situation I'm in and the environment etc.... or the chinese saying
at the end of the day its okie to complain.. but after complaining we have to learn from it or put the thing down and not carry the "unjust" with us... otherwise our back will start to ache....

I need higher EQ
I lost my temper at my Dad yesterday... and worst infront of the relatives....
Was at a cousin's wedding yesterday night. Initially I didn't want to attend the wedding.. cos I'm very stress at work and I wanted more time to do OT... but mum insists I go.. so I went... the dinner didn't start until 9pm... imagine my hunger and the tot that the dinner will end real late...
and so I was sitted at the table with my dad, my bro, my uncle and another uncle and his family. mum got pulled to sit with my auntie... so the whole night my dad and tat uncle is making a lot of din at the table... imagine i have to sit through 2.5 hours of noise and with all the stress i'm having... i was suffering from a headache after the dinner..
and worst my uncle got drunk... and dad got a bit high (maybe that explain why they were so noisy)... then this uncle starts to complain about the old grandfather story... well its all the money and inheritance issue.. and old bad blood between the uncles... so my dad help him out to let him smoke and stop him from drinking...
initially i wanted to take my bro bike home... but my father insist i take a cab back with them... so after the dinner i went out to look for my dad and tell him to leave.. but he can't leave my drunk uncle there sprouting nonsense... so he ask me to wait... so i waited for a good 15 minutes.. but i was really tired already... and with all the rubbish going on i'm even more fustrated.. so after the 15 minutes i walk up to my dad and mouth to him that i'm going off on my own already... i have enough of the nonsense... of course my dad ask me to wait.. then i told him in quite a harsh tone that i'm very tired and i have to work tomorrow and i don't want to wait any more... then dad ask me to ask bro to send me home.. i told him its impossible.. my bro is already halfway home... he wouldn't make a u-turn all the way back for me... and its him who insisted i take the cab back.... seeing i'm getting really impatient my dad finally get some action going... and we left he place at about 11:20pm....
seriously i'm not angry with my dad.. cos i understand why he can't leave my uncle alone there.. but i tot he could do more to hurry him home... as for my uncle... i don't have much liking for him in the first place... a bit too petty for a man.. especially a man of his age.... but then he is still my uncle so i still have to give him some respect... generally i'm just piss off with the situation... i hope i can handle such situation better the next time... I need higher EQ....
