Yesterday our instructor was very 忙漲. A little thing only he feels fustrated... and again his loh soh-ness was out again.. he spend 10+ minutes to keep on repeating that the basic technique is very important... we cannot depend on mood to play... must have strong technique before we work on adding expressions into the playing... a simple 30 seconds thing, he spend 10+ mintues to explain and drive home his point... i almost fall asleep... half the time i was dreaming when he was talking... cos i only slept 5 hours that morning... So he spend a whole hour preaching and asking us to do our alternate stroking... the basic of drumming...
Well, the lesson content is an extension of last week... where we learn to play on the snare drum, hi-hat and base-drum... this time we have to co-ordinate to play both hands / legs together and at the same time have to let them be independent... independent in terms of the loudness of each instrument. For example, the base drum is loud but the hi-hat is soft... but both is played at the sametime... obviously i still can't get it... i keep using the same force for the base-drum and hi-hat... so when i try to put force into the base-drum i tend to chop on the hi-hat too.... arghhh.....
After lesson he make us stay back to do more alternate stroking again.... i almost fell asleep when doing it.. cos i'm really tired!!! later he also taught us to do double alternate stroking which is something new... and we are suppose to do it more slowly first... then gradually increase the speed... but i think the increase of speed seems still a far way for me to go.. so maybe i shld just concentrate on my alternate stroking and slow double stroke first...
oh yeah.. we saw the 2pm guy again... did i mention him before? i can't remember.. anyway he is suppose to start 1 month after us.. BUT i feel so throw face.. cos he is damn good.. and he is advancing faster then us... he is learning more rhythems already... sighz... okie nvm he is still young tats why he picks things up faster then me... *excuses*
