Had my 2nd drum lesson yesterday.. i almost want to find a hole and bury myself in it.. i actually forgot all my musical terms.. my god... okie i remember crochet... i forgot quaivers and semi quaivers... and minum... and the four beat one wat is it call?? u ask me to draw i can draw it out but the terms i totally forgot... think age is catching up on me.. how can i forgot such terms?? shld have say i din't learn music before when he asked... now i feel so malu.... then time signatures i also forgot about 2/2... but i was so silly.. if i noe 2/4 and 6/8 how could i not have guess wat is 2/2... really feel like digging a hole and bury myself in it...
Okie then we learn the subdivision *1-e-n-er 2-e-n-er* thing... and my stupidity overwhelm me again.. i count the beats correctly but when my hand start to move its like totally not the same as wat i'm counting... my godz... i really think i have co-ordination problem.... and dunno whether is it he can read my mind or i really write it all over my face, he actually explain why we need to count in 1-e-n-er 2-e-n-er rather then 1-2-3-4... but at least now i noe.. so it felt more logical... another thing i learn is why there must be 4 beats before the music starts.. why can't it be 2.. cos the first 2 beats is for you to determine the tempo and the next 2 beat is for you to do subdivision...
oh yeah talking about subdivision, he actually ask me wat is subdivision... and i replied divide lor.. and he was like a bit buay tahan i gave such a silly answer.. then he himself try to explain and the words he use "sub division is to.... sub divide"... -_-"' but he went on to use illustration to explain lah.. but isn't it the same as i explain.. how does he want me to explain when he himself also need illustration to explain??
the lesson is to end with intense drumming... meaning to really hit very very hard on the drum and very very fast.. this is where i feel the my left hand is totally retarded... i can't seem to hold the drum stick properly (as GF predicted... there was actually twice the drum stick flew out of my hand and hit me on my chest... but funny that drum stick tat flew out was from my right hand...)... and is unable to utilise my fingers properly... my wrist doesn't seem to co-ordinate with the hands and fingers... think i need more practice on my left hand... sighz....
